Tourism NI Announces £200,000 Tourism Augmented Reality Challenge

Tourism NI has launched a competition to inspire innovation in augmented reality (AR) amongst the local technology and tourism industries with a £200,000 prize fund.

Augmented reality (AR) technology offers ways to plan and consume visitor experiences in a seamless, interactive, and simple manner. This technology makes it possible to layer digital enhancements over an existing reality or real life scenario. For tourism, this could mean that booking a hotel, accessing information, navigating around a destination, translating written or spoken signs or conversations, and locating dining and entertainment options can all be done through an app on mobile devices.
