Scheduled vote on Brexit deal delayed over Northern Ireland backstop.
Prime Minister Theresa May has delayed the meaningful parliamentary vote on her proposed Brexit deal. The vote had been scheduled for 11 December and was expected to be heavily defeated. Speaking to the House of Commons, the Prime Minister said that if the vote went ahead, it would be lost by a large margin due - according to Mrs May - to opposition to the Northern Ireland backstop.
