If you have never attended a Start-ups in London Libraries workshop before, please also fill out this additional registration form in advance of the session. This form is crucial for our funding purposes (more detail below).

Get ready for business

In this second full-day webinar workshop our experts will cover a step-by-step plan to help you develop your business idea from concept to market.

Workshop itinerary:

Session 1: Why start a business? (10.00 - 13.00)

In the first part of the day, we will cover:

  • What are the characteristics of an entrepreneurs and what skills, talent or experience are required?
  • Do I work 9-5 or 5-9?
  • Importance of your values when starting a business
  • Minimum Viable Product
  • What is needed for you to start your business?
  • Researching the market
  • Testing and validating your idea

Session 2: Getting started - the things you need to know! (14.00 - 17.00)

In the second session, we will start to delve into how to operationally get your business up and running:

  • Legal and operations – the things you need to know, including company formation, operations and finance
  • Defining your value - what is your value to your customers and your value proposition

We will finish by looking at how we can build a simple but effective business plan:

  • Types of business plans – traditional vs modern
  • The Business Model Canvas

Throughout the session there will be generous breaks and time for questions.

If you are new to Start-ups in London Libraries, please fill out this registration form as well as registering on Eventbrite. As this project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, this is important for our funding purposes. If you have previously taken part in any Start-ups in London Libraries workshop, you do not need to fill this out again.

This is the first part of a two-day offering. To make the most of the free business support offered by the Start-ups in London Libraries project, please also book to attend the Day 1 webinar - 'What next for my business idea'- alongside this workshop. These workshops have been designed for people who have had a registered business for less than a year, or those with a business idea they want to develop.

Eligibility

To take part in the Start-ups in London Libraries workshops you or your business needs to have a London based postcode. You also need to be either:

The owner of a business which has been registered at Companies House for less than 12 months.

Or

You should be an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop
